There’s an amazing new film + 3LP Soundtrack preparing to be unleashed upon the masses entitled…

BLACK MASS RISING is a 120 minute long experimental cult based film directed by SHAZZULA NEBULA, a 2 hour journey into the dark world of occult mysticism. Entirely improvised, and filmed & directed by Shazzula Nebula, the BLACK MASS RISING soundtrack consists of 22 dark, experimental, & cult based bands from various backgrounds.  The film is divided into two different versions, “The Rising” (Color), and “Black Mass” (Black & White).  The film is being releases as a limited DVD-R, and the vinyl soundtrack will be released as a 150 gram 3xLP black box limited to 666 copies.  Just a few bands involved are BURIAL HEX, DEMONOLOGISTS, L’ACEPHALE, KINIT HER, MATER SUSPIRIA VISION, and more.  Everything should be finished in October.  The original blogspot has been deleted so our apologies to those who followed that link to a dead end before.

PROJEKT has been on a roll lately.  The recently announced the release of a new VOLTAIRE record (“Riding a Black Unicorn…”) and a 2-disc set from Erik Wollo entitled Silent Currents:  Live at Star’s End”.  A portion of the proceeds from the latter go to CIMA of PA, a non-profit responsible for The Gatherings Concert Series.  Projekt fans should already be well aware of this composer and guitarist from his 2010 release Gateway.

The prolific TAALEM 3″ CDR label has released a host of new wonderful experimental ambient releases:  NOBUTO SUDA – “Twilight Garden” (Japanese Melodic Ambient), HITOSHIRES – “Stella” (Japanese drone ambient debut), HAKOBUNE – “Believed Remains” (Japanese Drone Ambient), and IEVA – “La Cascade de la Montagne de l’Aube” (Japanese Drone & Field Recordings).  All available for 4.50 Euros + postage for a physical release or 3.50 euros for the digital version.  Also available is “Jizokuonbox (Kyoto)”, which gathers all four discs mentioned plus two additional discs.  The first is a 20 minute collaborative track between Hakobune, Ieva, and Nobuto Suda.  The second is four solo tracks from each artist.  This edition is limited to only 33 copies and is 28 euros + postage.

Just a quick note to add that the ZU93 shows in Wroclaw, Poland and Birmingham, England have been cancelled.  The artists plan to reschedule as soon as they can.

DARK ENTRIES RECORDS have released two new vinyl editions of 80’s original tape releases.  EUROPA’s “La Ultima Emocion!” is the first LP rerelease announced and was the project’s first and only album.  The original was a single-sided cassette limited to 500 copies and featured synthpop from Valencia, Spain, a city that at the time was deeply rooted in progressive rock.  Announced just after was the album “Harpa” by SYSTEM LILIPUTT.  This was originally a 6-track mini album released on a GEVA TAPES & STUDIO and was limited to 150 copies.  The project is the solo effort of Geir Vasseng from the Stavanger area of Norway.  The music itself was a now historical piece of Norsk DIY dark post-punk.  Both records are available for $16.00.

DICTAFAWN have announced the release of a new tape from REJET entitled “Metaphysique”.  This release is only second to their Le Culte du Neant CDR on SMELL THE STENCH and features harsh noise with a haunting quality.  Monolithic.  MC60 Casette, $5 with two-panel insert and stickers.  Also released is “Greenwood Park” by KRISTIAN DAY.  This indie filmmaker turned experimental musician takes inspiration from the likes of BOYD RICE and MERZBOW.  Ethereal ambient with a hint of unease.  MC30 microcasette, $5 with stickers and a 3-panel insert.

BOE has recently ended his trilogy of maritime-themed CD-R’s, beginning with Low Harbour (’09) and then The Haul (’10).  So, it is only fitting that now in 2011, he would put out “Last Breath” on TWILIGHT LUGGAGE. Improvised percussion and guitar combine to make a cinematic experience through the execution of Børre Myklebust.  Also available as a free download.

The very first MIXED BAND PHILANTHROPIST LP and the very first BROKEN PENIS ORCHESTRA CDr have been reissued to cassette tape in editions of 200 each by HYPNAGOGIA. The MBP cassette includes a collaboration between MBP & BPO as a bonus track. The BPO cassette includes an early compilation tack as a bonus track.

I HAD AN ACCIDENT RECORDS has released a new interesting take on remixing.  MOUNTAINHEAD and JULIA LADENSE have teamed up on the label to put together a ‘remix’ of CARLO GESUALDO’s complete “sacred music for five voices”.  Sacred music distorted with white noise and corroded sounds, ancient hymnals thrust into the modern perspective.  This one is limited to 30 chrome tapes and comes with an mp3 download.  $5 postpaid.

To add to the slew of recent news regarding FOSSILS, they have also recently put out a new split LP with California’s DARKSMITH on KYE.  The split, titled “Million Year Spree”, is actually considered a ‘shared release’.  No-fi acousticism meets wilting electronic floppy turntableism.  Limited to 400.  Also available is MONIEK DARGE’s “Sounds of Sacred Places”, a rerelease of the 1987 original sound art collection on IGLOO.  The title of the album says it all as far as definition, really.  Limited to 500.
